Class 2

Welcome to Class 2's page!

Our class teacher is Miss Ward and our Teaching Partners are Mrs Blandford (Monday-Wednesday) and Mrs Goulding (Thursday-Friday.

In our school we teach Years 1 and 2 a wide range of subjects including: RE, History, Geography, PSHCE, Music, Computing, Art, DT and PE. Every day we teach Phonics (using our phonics scheme: Sounds Write), Maths and English. We follow a continuous provision approach to learning and we have lots of fun!

Our Summer Term topic is...

Friends From Afar!

Welcome to the summer term! I can’t quite believe we are in Summer 1 already and I am really looking forward to our topics that are coming up. Last term, the children had an amazing time learning about Monarchs, seasons and writing their own version George and the Dragon.

As we move into Summer 1, it is really important that children come to school with a coat and that the children have wellies in school for going on the field. Snack is still provided for the children of class 2 and if children are bringing in a snack from home, it should be fruit, vegetables or a healthy snack bar. Thank you.

We are starting our new topic ‘Friends From Afar’ where we will be learning all about Africa and the other continents of the world. If you have any books at home about Africa or African animals, please bring them in!

A few key reminders:

  • PE days are Monday and Thursday but PE kits can remain in school during the term. I will send them home if the children have been on the field and have got muddy!
  • Please can children continue to read as often as possible and bring in their reading books daily.
  • Homework books are due in on a Monday and go back out again on a Tuesday.
  • We do not have forest school until next term and Swimming will also start (hopefully!) after half term.

Please see below the overview of what the children will be learning this half term. If there is anything relevant that can support our learning, please let us know as we are always on the lookout for new opportunities for the children.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do speak to me at the end of the day or send an email either to my school account or on ClassDojo.

Many thanks,

Miss Ward
