Class 2

Welcome to Class 2's page!

Our class teacher is Miss Ward and our Teaching Partners are Mrs Blandford (Monday-Wednesday) and Mrs Goulding (Thursday-Friday.

In our school we teach Years 1 and 2 a wide range of subjects including: RE, History, Geography, PSHCE, Music, Computing, Art, DT and PE. Every day we teach Phonics (using our phonics scheme: Sounds Write), Maths and English. We follow a continuous provision approach to learning and we have lots of fun!

Our Spring Term topic is...

Memorable Monarchs!

Spring 1 Termly Letter

We can’t believe that we have been at school for two whole terms already! The time has really flown by. Last term, the children excelled at acting out their parts in the nativity and I was so proud of all of them for their resilience, effort and compassion towards each other when things didn’t go to plan. We had a super term learning about bodies in science, why Christmas is important to Christians in RE and learning to sing beautifully in music with Mr Keesley.

As we move into Spring 1, it is really important that children come to school with a coat and warm clothes as they will still be outside for playtime and lunchtime. Gloves and hats would also be a good idea on particularly cold days. Snack is still provided for the children of class 2 and if children are bringing in a snack from home, it should be fruit, vegetables or a healthy snack bar. Thank you.

We are starting our amazing topic of ‘Memorable Monarchs’ where we will be learning all about Queen Elizabeth the second and other significant monarchs. If you have any books at home about the queen or royalty, please bring them in!

A few key reminders:

  • PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday but PE kits can remain in school during the term. I will send them home if the children have been on the field and have got muddy!
  • Please can children continue to read as often as possible and bring in their reading books daily.
  • Homework books are due in on a Monday and go back out again on a Tuesday.
  • We do not have forest school until next term and Gymnastics has finished for class 2.

Please see below the overview of what the children will be learning this half term. If there is anything relevant that can support our learning, please let us know as we are always on the lookout for new opportunities for the children.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do speak to me at the end of the day or send an email either to my school account or on ClassDojo.

Many thanks,

Miss Ward –
