Houses

We have four houses at Ann Cam.

Our houses are named after four of the Dymock Poets:

  • Lascelles Abercrombie
  • Rupert Brooke
  • John Drinkwater
  • Edward Thomas

Who were the Dymock Poets?

In the years leading up to the First World War, literary history was being made around the village of Dymock in the valley of the River Leadon.

Six poets were walking and talking, reading and writing here between May Hill in Gloucestershire and the Malvern Hills in Herefordshire.

When children start at Ann Cam they are assigned to one of the four houses, any siblings are put into the same house. At the start of each year, each house get together and vote for house captains and vice captains. The children also design and make a house shield which is displayed on their house boards in the school.

Throughout the year we have different house competitions and a weekly winner of our house point system. Over the past few years we have had the following competitions:

  • Cross country
  • Swimming
  • Football
  • Nature Quiz
  • Geography Quiz
  • Sports Day
