Welcome to Ann Cam School Parent, Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA). If you are a Parent, Teacher or part of the school community, then you are already a member!

The school local advisors, in their annual report to the Parish Council, described the work of the PTFA as 'phenomenal'. Please help us continue our work for the school.

In recent years the PTFA has raised money for:

  • New school library
  • New heater for the swimming pool
  • Whole school projects
  • iPads and laptops
  • New reading books to help with ongoing reading schemes
  • The whole school to visit the Pantomime at Christmas
  • membership to Purple Mash, an online learning resource

In addition the PTFA runs our outside swimming pool, paying for the maintenance and running costs.

Swimming Pool

The PTFAs biggest role outside of fundraising is to maintain and run the school outdoor swimming pool, which is used to provide swimming lessons for the pupils, twice a week during the summer term.

The swimming pool sub-committee members (who are parents and members of the teaching staff and have done a specific training course) are responsible for the day to day running of the school swimming pool. Around spring time we get the pool ready for the summer, cleaning and inspecting it all.

With the help of parents who have undergone the lifeguard training we are able to open the pool after school and at weekends for use by the children, which proves very popular.

Swimming Pool Hire

The pool can be hired by parents for children’s parties out of school hours. Check out the download for current prices and the conditions of hire.

The pool can also be hired out to schools for swimming lessons. Please contact the school direct for more information.

Committee Meetings and AGM

The elected committee members, as well as other members of the committee, interested parents, teachers and friends of the school meet on a regular basis, usually once per term. The Committee meetings are vital in directing the priorities of the PTFA and in helping us to spend your money wisely! Our AGM is normally held at the end of Term 3, and is an opportunity for all parents, teachers and members of the local community to come along and hear in more detail about events run, funds raised, and how the money has been spent.

It is also the occasion when we elect our new Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer, and fill the many other roles, as described previously, within the PTFA.

There is also time for a chat with other parents over a glass of wine and nibbles.
