Class two

I started teaching in class 2 with Mrs. Wellings in September 2008 and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I previously taught in Reception/Year 1 for 6 years.

I am delighted with our new intake as all of the children are an absolute delight to teach.

Our main aim is to provide a happy, secure and stimulating environment in which children can learn.

We feel there is a great ethos in Class 2 one of hard work but also one of fun and enjoyment in their learning. We strive to encourage all children to reach their full potential and be praised and encouraged on the way for good work and behaviour.

Children have the chance to experience a wide range of subjects and activities within these. They are carefully planned to ensure continuity and progression but also to ensure there is full coverage taught between us.

Children are encouraged to develop confidence and further independence in their work whether they are moving on from Reception or Year 1.

We started the year with the topic Traditional Tales, the home corner being a castle which the children loved. Autumn 2 the two main topics were 'Instructions' and 'Celebrations'. This term our main topics are 'Information' and 'Plants, animals and trees'. The home corner has been turned into a library. In the spring the main topic is 'Space' and in the summer 'Travel' and 'Forces and movement.'

We hope we are providing the children with a sound grounding to allow them to progress through the school happily.
